The automated warehouse for boxes is formed by a central aisle along which a stacker crane travels. This is the optimum system to handle boxes for picking, following the “product to employee” principle. This is a simple and standard automated storage system for boxes which includes in a single product the racking, machinery, P&D station and the warehouse management software. Two racks, built at either side, are used to store boxes or trays. The picking and handling area is formed by conveyors and is positioned at one end or at the side of the racking. Here, the stacker crane deposits the load extracted from the rack. The conveyors then take the box to the operator and once the job has been completed, the box is returned to the stacker crane which then places it back in the racking. The whole system is controlled by a warehouse management program which registers the location of all the materials in the warehouse and keeps an inventory in real time. The great adaptability of this storage system allows it to be used for storing numerous types of goods.
